Grand Mosque of Copenhagen
In June 2014, the Grand Mosque of Copenhagen was opened in the Norrebro neighborhood. The mosque, officially known as Hamad Bin Khalifa Civilisation Center is the first purpose-built non-Ahmadiyya mosque in Denmark. Being one of the largest mosques in Europe, the 6700 square metre complex includes a mosque, cultural centre, television studio, and fitness centre. The mosque space itself is encased in beautifully simple walls with carvings that meet the ceiling and a central dome and chandelier that bathes the space in soft lighting. Even though the mosque is not in the best area (between a car dealer and a self-storage firm), it is the perfect place to complete your daily prayers and an excellent place to learn about the history of the Islamic faith.
